Union Pacific’s Internship Program for 2025 provides talented students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the transportation and logistics industry. Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teams across various departments, including operations, engineering, finance, marketing, and IT, to contribute to ongoing projects.
  • Assist in analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing insights that support operational improvements and strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of key business strategies, helping to optimize Union Pacific’s logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and internal communications for management and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices, new technologies, and innovative solutions to improve business performance.
  • Assist in identifying process inefficiencies and proposing actionable solutions to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions, contributing to discussions and gaining exposure to Union Pacific’s leadership.
  • Assist with operational tasks such as route optimization, safety analysis, data management, and project coordination.
  • Participate in company-sponsored events and activities that foster professional development and networking.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. institution.
  • Preferably pursuing a degree in fields such as business administration, transportation/logistics, industrial engineering, computer science, finance, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Strong academic standing (GPA of 3.0 or higher).
  • U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Experience
  • No prior professional work experience required, though any previous internships, projects, or coursework related to transportation, logistics, business, or engineering will be an advantage.
  • A demonstrated interest in the transportation or logistics industry is beneficial.
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with data analysis tools and software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
