Responsibilities

As a TfL Intern, you will:

  • Support Transport Operations: Contribute to the smooth running of various transport services, including the London Underground, buses, and river services.
  • Assist with Project Delivery: Work alongside project teams to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects, such as station upgrades, new transport services, and technology solutions.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Assist in analyzing transport data to help improve services, reduce congestion, and increase passenger satisfaction.
  • Research and Policy Development: Conduct research to support policy development, sustainability initiatives, and strategies to improve transport accessibility across London.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Help coordinate communications and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and service updates.
  • Customer Experience Improvement: Support teams working on enhancing the passenger experience by evaluating feedback, identifying areas for improvement, and helping implement solutions.
  • Professional Development: Participate in workshops, networking events, and training sessions designed to enhance your skills in transport, infrastructure, project management, and policy.
Qualifications
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate degree program at a UK university and due to graduate in 2026 or later.
  • Academic Requirements: There are no specific degree requirements; however, a background in transport, engineering, urban planning, business, or related fields may be beneficial.
  • Right to Work: Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Commitment: Applicants must be able to commit to a full-time, paid internship (usually 8-12 weeks) during the summer of 2025.
Experience
  • No Previous Work Experience Required: This is an entry-level internship, and previous professional experience is not mandatory. However, any relevant volunteer work, academic projects, or extracurricular involvement related to transport, urban planning, or business will be considered an advantage.
  • Interest in Transport: A strong interest in public transport systems, sustainable infrastructure, and urban development is desirable.

  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, draw insights, and help solve complex problems related to transport systems.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and collaborate effectively.

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is essential. Knowledge of data analysis software (e.g., Python, R) or CAD tools is a plus but not mandatory.
