Description

The SSA Summer Internship Student Opportunities program aims to provide college students with practical experience in social policy, public administration, and service delivery. Interns will work closely with SSA professionals on projects that support Social Security programs and contribute to enhancing agency operations.

Responsibilities

As an SSA intern, you will:

  • Assist in program operations: Support SSA teams with data management, outreach, and customer service activities that enhance service delivery to the public.
  • Conduct research and analysis: Help with data collection, policy analysis, and report preparation to assist SSA in improving program effectiveness.
  • Engage in customer service support: Provide information and assistance to Social Security beneficiaries and the public, helping resolve inquiries and streamline communication.

  • Attend training and development sessions: Participate in workshops and professional development events that cover federal service best practices, policy insights, and SSA’s mission.
Qualifications

To qualify for the SSA Summer Internship, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be studying a relevant field such as Public Administration, Social Work, Economics, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the United States.
Experience

Prior experience in volunteer work, community service, or previous internships in government or social services is preferred but not required. SSA values diverse experiences and perspectives.
