Description

Responsibilities

As an RSPCA apprentice, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the care, welfare, and rehabilitation of animals at RSPCA centres.
  • Supporting the team in the delivery of animal rescue and welfare activities.
  • Engaging with the public, providing education on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
  • Contributing to administrative tasks, including case documentation, data entry, and reporting.
  • Participating in fundraising and outreach activities to raise awareness for animal welfare issues.
  • Working with the communications team to help raise awareness through digital and print materials.
  • Supporting the RSPCA's community engagement and educational initiatives.
Qualifications

To be eligible for the program, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or equivalent qualification in a related field such as Animal Science, Veterinary Studies, Environmental Science, or Social Sciences.
  • Have a keen interest in animal welfare and a desire to make a positive impact.
Experience
  • Previous experience working with animals (e.g., volunteering at animal shelters, veterinary clinics, or farms) is desirable but not essential.
  • Prior exposure to community outreach, customer service, or administrative work would be beneficial.
  • A passion for animal care and an understanding of animal welfare principles.
Skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with diverse groups.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude in handling challenges.
  • Empathy and sensitivity towards animals, with a commitment to their care and welfare.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including some manual tasks.
  • A genuine interest in animal welfare and the RSPCA’s mission.
