Description

Portland General Electric (PGE) is offering exciting internship opportunities for students in 2025. The purpose of this internship program is to provide students with hands-on experience in the energy sector, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios while contributing to projects that support sustainable energy solutions. Interns will gain exposure to various functions within the company, such as engineering, operations, finance, environmental sustainability, and more. This program is designed to help interns develop the skills and expertise needed for a successful career in the energy industry.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with different departments to support ongoing projects in energy production, operations, sustainability, and customer solutions.
  • Assist in the analysis and evaluation of energy data to optimize performance and support decision-making.
  • Help with research and development of new technologies or strategies for improving energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of systems that enhance the customer experience.
  • Support the creation of reports, presentations, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend meetings, participate in project teams, and offer insights during discussions.
  • Participate in training and development sessions, as well as networking opportunities with professionals across the company.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed in different areas of the business.
  • Contribute to the safety and environmental initiatives of the company by adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, pursuing a degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A strong academic record with relevant coursework in energy systems, project management, or related areas.
  • Interest in the energy sector, renewable energy, and sustainability practices.
  • Availability to work during the summer or semester-long internship period.
Experience
  • Previous internship or project experience in the energy, engineering, sustainability, or related sectors is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with data analysis or research is beneficial.
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and familiarity with industry-specific software or tools is a plus.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new concepts and tools.
  • A passion for renewable energy and sustainability initiatives.
