Description

The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) Internship Program for Graduate Students offers an exceptional opportunity for graduate-level students to engage in public service and gain firsthand experience in ethics, policy analysis, and governmental operations. The program is designed to provide interns with a deep understanding of the role of ethics in public service, focusing on the promotion of integrity and transparency in federal government operations. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects, develop professional skills, and work alongside experienced professionals dedicated to the mission of OGE.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting research and analysis on ethics-related issues, policies, and regulations affecting federal employees.
  • Contribute to the development and review of guidance, policies, and procedures that promote ethical behavior in government.
  • Support the drafting of reports, memos, and briefing materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with staff on various projects related to the ethics of federal agencies and employees.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating compliance with ethics laws and regulations across federal agencies.
  • Help organize and support OGE events, training sessions, and outreach programs for federal ethics officials.
  • Provide administrative support for departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Attend seminars, workshops, and networking events to deepen understanding of ethics in government operations.
  • Assist with any additional tasks and special projects as assigned by OGE staff.
Qualifications
  • Must be a current graduate student (master’s, law, or other advanced degree) with a focus on public policy, law, government, political science, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance (minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher).
  • Interest in ethics, government regulations, or public service.
  • U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S. required.
Experience
  • Prior internship or work experience in public service, law, policy analysis, or government is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with government ethics and regulations is a plus.
  • Experience in research, writing, or data analysis is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in law, public administration, or public policy roles is an advantage.
Skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with data analysis tools is a plus.
