Description

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is offering a unique internship opportunity for graduate students interested in gaining hands-on experience in transportation planning, engineering, policy development, and management. Responsibilities

As an FHWA Intern, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in preparing documentation and progress reports for various internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with federal guidelines and standards.
Qualifications

To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Academic Requirements:
    • Currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s or Doctoral level) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Environmental Policy, Public Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Eligibility:
    • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
    • Must be available for a full-time internship for the duration of the summer 2025 session.
Experience

While previous experience is not mandatory, the following is preferred:

  • Coursework or practical experience related to transportation systems, infrastructure management, or public policy.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, GIS software, and statistical analysis tools).
  • Experience working on academic projects or in collaborative teams, especially in areas related to civil or transportation engineering.
