The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is offering a unique and exciting internship program for graduate students in 2025. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in intelligence and national security while contributing to the mission of the DIA. Interns will work on a variety of projects related to intelligence analysis, operations, and support, assisting in advancing the U.S. defense strategy and ensuring national security.

Responsibilities

As a DIA intern, you will be involved in several key activities across different areas of the agency, including:

  • Intelligence Analysis: Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting intelligence data to support national security efforts. You will contribute to preparing reports, assessments, and presentations.
  • Research Support: Conduct research on global security threats, geopolitical developments, and military activities to support decision-making processes within the agency.
  • Data Management: Analyze and manage large datasets, helping to ensure the integrity and accuracy of intelligence information.
  • Policy and Strategy Development: Support the development of intelligence policies and strategies by conducting analysis of current national security trends and proposing innovative approaches.
  • Technical Support: Contribute to projects involving advanced technologies and intelligence tools to enhance data collection and analysis.
  • Collaborative Projects: Work alongside professionals in the intelligence community, contributing to both group and individual tasks aimed at solving complex security challenges.

Qualifications
  • Academic Requirements: Currently enrolled in a graduate-level degree program in international relations, political science, security studies, computer science, data science, engineering, or a related field.
  • GPA: Minimum GPA of 3.2 or equivalent.
  • Citizenship: U.S. citizen (must be eligible for a U.S. government security clearance).
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old by the start of the internship.
Experience
  • Preferred: Previous internship or research experience in intelligence, national security, defense studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • Research Skills: Experience conducting research and preparing reports or analyses in academic or professional settings is a plus.
Skills
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and analysis to diverse audiences.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with intelligence analysis software, programming languages, or data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring the integrity of sensitive data and intelligence reports.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying patterns and trends.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to group efforts in a fast-paced and high-stakes environment.
