Description

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is offering an exciting internship opportunity for recent students in 2025. This program aims to provide hands-on experience in federal law enforcement and regulatory affairs. Interns will work in various ATF departments, contributing to investigations, compliance, research, and public safety initiatives. The internship will help develop professional skills and provide an in-depth understanding of ATF's mission in law enforcement and regulatory operations.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the research and analysis of law enforcement data and compliance reports.
  • Support investigations related to firearms, explosives, alcohol, and tobacco.
  • Participate in the preparation and drafting of official documents and reports.
  • Help in organizing and managing case files, documents, and evidence.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure regulatory compliance in areas such as firearms laws and explosives handling.
  • Attend and participate in briefings and meetings on ongoing investigations and enforcement actions.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, filing, and other related tasks.
  • Gain exposure to various ATF divisions including investigations, intelligence, and public outreach.
Qualifications
  • Must be a recent graduate (within 12 months) or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited U.S. university or college.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Experience
  • No previous law enforcement experience is required, but experience or coursework in criminal justice, public safety, or related fields is a plus.
  • Previous internship experience in public service or government agencies will be beneficial.
Skills
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in law enforcement, regulatory affairs, or public safety.
