The CIA Internship Undergraduate Intelligence Students Program offers talented, driven university students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in intelligence operations, data analysis, and national security matters. This highly competitive program provides interns with an immersive experience in a government agency, helping them develop critical skills while contributing to the CIA’s mission of safeguarding national security and advancing the country’s intelligence capabilities. Interns will gain exposure to the intelligence community, work with experienced professionals, and enhance their understanding of U.S. intelligence operations.
- Assist in gathering, analyzing, and evaluating intelligence data relevant to national security issues.
- Support senior analysts and operatives in preparing reports, presentations, and briefings on intelligence findings.
- Work with a team of professionals to conduct research, track trends, and assist with intelligence collection methods.
- Participate in intelligence-related projects that align with U.S. foreign policy and security objectives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new tools, systems, and techniques for intelligence analysis.
- Participate in meetings, briefings, and training sessions designed to improve understanding of intelligence work.
- Engage in administrative tasks such as data entry, organizing files, and assisting with documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive and classified information.
- Collaborate with other agency departments to enhance operational effectiveness and intelligence collection.
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited U.S. university with at least one semester of study remaining before graduation.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Strong academic performance in courses related to intelligence, national security, political science, computer science, data analytics, international relations, or a related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Interest in pursuing a career in intelligence, national security, or government service.
- No previous professional experience is required, but prior involvement in intelligence-related activities, security studies, or internships in government agencies is a plus.
- Experience working with large datasets, research, or any form of analytical work is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of data analysis tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create reports and deliver briefings.
