The Metropolitan Police Service is excited to announce internship placement vacancies for 2025 apprenticeships. These placements are designed to provide individuals with the opportunity to gain valuable experience within one of the largest and most respected police forces in the world. As an apprentice, you will support key departments, develop essential skills, and contribute to the operational success of the service, helping to ensure the safety and security of London’s diverse communities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily operational tasks across various departments, including crime prevention, intelligence, forensics, community outreach, and more.
  • Provide administrative support by maintaining records, handling correspondence, and updating databases.
  • Support the management of community and public safety projects, assisting with outreach programs and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals to support crime investigations and law enforcement activities.
  • Attend training sessions and develop a thorough understanding of policing procedures, legal frameworks, and best practices.
  • Participate in meetings, contribute to the decision-making process, and work closely with both senior staff and peers.
  • Contribute to reports and presentations, showcasing progress and learning outcomes.
  • Engage with members of the public, assisting in customer service and engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including English and Mathematics, at Grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • A-levels or equivalent vocational qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong interest in law enforcement, public service, or criminology.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a commitment to personal and professional development.
Experience
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, volunteer position, or any administrative position is an advantage.
  • No prior policing experience is necessary, though an interest in public safety and community service is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a team-oriented environment is beneficial.
Skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, demonstrating reliability and initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving ability and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Comfortable with basic IT systems, including Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced and dynamic environments.
  • A strong commitment to professionalism and ethical conduct.
