The purpose of the VDH Internship Program is to provide interns with hands-on experience in public health while supporting the department's mission of promoting and protecting the health of Virginia residents. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects, gain insights into public health practices, and develop professional skills.
As an intern at VDH, you will be involved in various duties, which may include:
- Assisting with public health research and data analysis.
- Supporting epidemiological studies and disease surveillance.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of public health programs.
- Conducting outreach and education efforts in communities.
- Preparing and presenting reports, summaries, and presentations on public health topics.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support health initiatives.
- Assisting with policy analysis, planning, and evaluation of health services.
- Enrollment in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (Public Health, Health Administration, Epidemiology, Nursing, Environmental Health, or related fields).
- Recent graduates may also apply.
- Prior experience in a health-related field, volunteer work, or community service is preferred but not required.
- Previous internship experience in public health, healthcare, or government agencies is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
