Description

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is offering a unique internship program for graduate students in 2025. This program provides hands-on experience in national security, public policy, cybersecurity, data analysis, and operations management. Interns will work on projects that directly support TSA’s mission to protect the nation’s transportation systems. This internship is an excellent opportunity for graduate students interested in contributing to public safety and national security.

Responsibilities
  • Policy Analysis and Research: Assist in analyzing policies related to transportation security and contribute to policy development recommendations.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Support data-driven projects by gathering and analyzing information relevant to security operations, risk management, and passenger flow.
  • Operational Support: Assist in day-to-day operations, including project management, tracking compliance initiatives, and improving security protocols.
  • Cybersecurity Support: Work with cybersecurity teams on projects that enhance TSA’s digital security infrastructure, depending on area of expertise.
  • Communication and Reporting: Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation, and assist in interdepartmental communication efforts.
Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a graduate program in Public Policy, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance and demonstrated interest in public safety, security, or government policy.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or hold authorization to work in the United States.
Experience
  • Prior internship or relevant experience in government, public policy, data analysis, cybersecurity, or national security is preferred.
  • Experience with project management, data analysis, or policy research is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with federal security policies, risk management, or cybersecurity principles is beneficial.
Skills
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, conduct research, and contribute to problem-solving for security operations.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data handling, reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team, taking initiative and adapting to dynamic environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data analysis or cybersecurity tools, if relevant.
