The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking motivated recent graduate students to join our team as interns for 2025. This program is designed to provide hands-on experience in the field of transportation safety, allowing interns to contribute to projects aimed at reducing road-related injuries and fatalities. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals and have opportunities to develop skills in policy analysis, data analysis, research, public safety initiatives, and more.
- Data Analysis & Research: Conduct research on traffic safety trends, analyze data, and assist with drafting reports that support NHTSA’s mission to improve road safety.
- Policy Support: Assist in reviewing and analyzing federal and state policies related to transportation and highway safety. Contribute to developing policy recommendations.
- Program Support: Help design, implement, and evaluate NHTSA programs aimed at preventing traffic accidents and improving road safety.
- Outreach & Communication: Participate in public safety campaigns, prepare communication materials, and assist in managing stakeholder relationships.
- Administrative Tasks: Support various administrative tasks as needed, including preparing presentations, maintaining project documentation, and organizing meetings.
- Recent graduate (within the past two years) from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have work authorization for internship duration.
- Demonstrated commitment to improving public safety and interest in the transportation sector.
- revious internship or coursework related to transportation safety, public policy, or data analysis is preferred.
- Experience with data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, Excel) and familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) is an asset.
- Previous involvement in public safety or governmental programs is a plus.

- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information in an accessible way.
